The Armenian National Assembly passed at first reading a bill on restricting the activity of bet shops.
The draft envisages allowing bookmakers to launch activity only in the cities of Tsakhadzor, Jermuk, Sevan and Meghri.
The bill has been authored by Alen Simonyan, Sipan Pashinyan from the ruling “My Step” faction and Naira Zohrabyan from Prosperous Armenia.
The draft seeks to minimize gambling addiction. The legislative initiative also envisages age restrictions.
Should the draft pass the second reading, the rules will come into force in November 2020. However, they will not apply to automated gaming devices placed at gas filling stations.
